Install for ChatGPT / Codex

Install ProxVanta in ChatGPT or Codex.

Connect ProxVanta once so your team can use shared Agent Contexts through the hosted MCP server instead of copying prompts by hand.

Before you start

  • Create or switch into your organization in ProxVanta.
  • Create an organization API key in Organization Settings.
  • Copy the key somewhere safe. You may need it during the connect flow.

App directory path

  1. Open ChatGPT or Codex and open Apps.
  2. Search for ProxVanta in the app directory and choose Connect.
  3. Complete the connect flow. If your setup uses a ProxVanta API key, paste your organization API key when prompted.
  4. Start a chat and invoke ProxVanta.

Workspace note

Some OpenAI workspaces may control which apps or connectors are available. If ProxVanta is not visible, your workspace owner or admin may need to enable it first.

Manual fallback note

The fallback install script creates the local Codex MCP setup for you. You do not need to create a separate plugin by hand before running it.

Good first prompts

  • @ProxVanta list the available Agent Contexts
  • $ProxVanta designer review this onboarding flow
  • $ProxVanta route this launch plan through the right Agent Contexts

Use @ProxVanta in ChatGPT and $ProxVanta in Codex.

More examples

  • $ProxVanta software-engineer in this thread for follow-up implementation work
  • $ProxVanta product-manager+designer+growth-lead improve this onboarding flow so fewer users drop off
  • $ProxVanta designer@2 review these designs against the new style guide

These examples cover list, single-context use, routing, thread-level use, multi-context use, and a pinned version.

Manual fallback

curl -fsSL https://www.proxvanta.com/install/proxvanta-codex.sh | bash export PROXVANTA_MCP_TOKEN="your_org_api_key_here"

Use manual setup only when the app directory path is not available in your environment yet.
